Christmas Pictures to Come...

Jay and I have forgotten to take a camera with us anywhere this Christmas. So I'm gathering pictures from various relatives and will share them with you soon! Merry, merry!

9 months!

Kira just had her 9-month check-up. She weighs 18 lbs. 11 oz. and is 28 inches long. She is no longer a ginormous baby. She's 50th percentile in weight and 75th for height. I've actually had 2 separate people tell me that she is "small" in the past week! Quite a shift from our 9-pound newborn!

Finger Foods

Last week Kira started eating a few finger foods. She absolutely loves it. I think I could leave her in the high chair for hours as long as I continued to supply Cheerios. She fed herself sweet potatoes for the first time today. Messy.

Kira is kind of scooting, but she can only move backwards. She keeps wedging herself underneath things, which I find funny and she finds frustrating.

Gobble Gobble

Kira saw lots of relatives this past week, and she loved every minute of it! Here's a smattering of people that we managed to capture on film (er, digital memory?).

Lake Retreat

Obviously a better photographer than me took this picture. Thank you, Scruff!

Five Years

Jay and I celebrated our 5-year anniversary on Friday. Well, to be totally accurate, I should say that we have celebrated all weekend. My parents babysat on Friday night so that Jay and I could go out to a wonderful dinner. On Saturday, Jay took the day off (he usually has to work for a few hours), and we had a family day. One highlight was the fresh pizza at the Peachtree Road Farmers' Market. Yum! It has been a great weekend, and we are looking forward to many more years of celebrating! Oh, and the picture below is from Saturday morning. It's actually pretty typical of a Saturday morning around here.

A Day in the Life of Pumpkin

"I'm so sweet."

"What's over there?"

"Focus, focus, focus."

My mom, Kira, and I went to Nashville to visit Connor, Crystal, and Chet this week. It was great to see them, and Chet is so big! Yes, Kira is wearing the same outfit here as she is in the "Teething" picture; it's a Halloween outfit (that Gramma gave to Addie last year), and Kira's trying to wear it while she still can!

Kira's Other Dog

During football season, the canine portion of the Wamsted household doubles. Luckily, Kira thinks that Lilly hung the moon. Twice the dogs, twice the fun.

First Tooth

Kira's first tooth appeared yesterday! It's just a little sliver in her bottom gum right now, but to me it symbolizes her transition out of infancy. It's certainly exciting but a little bittersweet, too.

Little General

The three of us just returned from my 5 year reunion at W&L. Kira was a champ! I was amazed at how well she traveled. And, boy, was it good to be back in Lexington. Unfortunately, Jay and I forgot our camera! We did, however, come home with some memorabilia. See tiny t-shirt below.

"Well, she's back on the charts,"

said Kira's pediatrician at her 6-month check-up. She was was literally off the percentile charts at her 4-month. Now my petite baby weighs 17 pounds 2 ounces and is 27 inches long.

Mountains of Things

Ok, so I'm not purposefully encouraging materialism in my child, but lately I've been piling toys up around her. She tends to chew on one for a little while and then discard it; and, once discarded, the toy is difficult for her to find again. So she goes through a pile of toys and then we start again at the beginning...
She's also learned the universal human tenet, "I want what you have." Beware the hands of Kira! They will grab your dinner, remote control, cell phone, or CAMERA!

Sitting Up

She's by no means sturdy, but Kira can sit by herself! She gets better at it every day. Yay baby!
