Heirloom Pumpkins

Forget the steamy weather; it feels like fall around here. Jay is back in school, and our lovely Musquee de Provence pumpkins are starting to ripen. The beauty above weighed 13.5 pounds! I've roasted and pureed two pumpkins so far. I have pumpkin puree in the freezer and the fridge, pumpkin muffins on the counter, and pumpkin soup in my stomach. The figs are ripening, too. It is so gratifying to be a gardener during harvest time!
