Birthday, Part III

After Kira's nap on Saturday, she opened a few presents. She exclaimed, "Wow! That is so cool!" even before she could see what anything was.

Then Yaya, PopPop, Aunt Annie, Uncle Jeremy, Baby Walker, and Lilly the Dog joined us for a couple of pizzas and some cupcakes.
Aunt Annie and Uncle Jeremy brought Kira a very loud Dora guitar. We decided that more birthdays should end with ice cream smeared on one's belly while one plays guitar.

Birthday, Part II

Kira, Jay, and I went to the zoo on Saturday morning to celebrate Kira's birthday. She was a little overwhelmed by all the people and animals, but she had a lot of fun.

{Kira and Baby Brother... is my stomach seriously that big???}
{Kira's panda stamps. We didn't fight the crowds to see the baby panda, but we still saw the grown-ups and got the stamps.}{Kira and Jay petting a goat at the petting zoo.}{Kira and Jay at the petting zoo.}

{We finished off our trip with a peanut butter and jelly picnic.}
We had such a wonderful morning together as a family. One more birthday post to come...

Birthday Milkshake

Kira turned 2-years-old on Friday. The big event of the day was lunch at Steak 'n Shake with Yaya, PopPop, and Aunt Anne (Kira's great aunt) where Kira got a milkshake with lunch.I'm still going through pictures of our Saturday birthday celebration, which consisted of the zoo, pizza, and cupcakes. Oh, and presents! It was a great weekend, and I'm pretty sure my big 2-year-old loved it!

Adventures in the Backyard

Today is a windows open, sunshiney day here in Atlanta! Kira, her buddy Zeke, and I took advantage of the weather and went for an adventure in the backyard. (Sidenote: Please excuse Kira's ridiculous outfit and hair. Her look was thrown together with playing in mind, not pictures. I grabbed the camera at the last minute to entertain me while the toddlers explored.)
Please take a close look at Kira's hair in that last picture. She rolled in the flower bed with Eli so she has our neighbors' grass clippings in her hair (which we use as mulch).

Consolation Marshmallow

Kira's cousin Addie was sick last weekend and consequently had to postpone her 3rd birthday party. Kira was very sad when we told her that we could not, in fact, go to "Addie's birthday." She told people all week that Addie was sick. The only thing that made Kira feel a little better was enjoying a treat that Aunt Anna had prepared for the party and sent our way via Gramma and Papa Al.Yesterday Kira informed me, "Addie's not sick anymore. Go to Addie's birthday!" Hmmmm... sorry, Kira, you'll have to wait a few more weeks.

Sew cute!

I took a sewing class in February at an adorable shop called Whipstitch. We met every Wednesday for 2.5 hours and learned the basics. I LOVED IT! I now feel empowered to do simple sewing projects on my own including the "20 minute skirt" below. I have lots of fabric just waiting to be turned into bags and skirts and who knows what else!For you Atlantans, I cannot recommend this shop highly enough! Also, I need to send a great big THANK YOU to my mom for watching Kira while I got to go to class! What a huge treat for me!
