John Goes to the Lake

Yesterday we met Gramma in Clayton and she took Kira up to Highlands with her for a special Gramma/Kira trip. Jay, John, and I headed to the lake for 2 nights. We've spent the last 24 hours or so treating John like an only child. It is probably the most adult attention he has ever received (although he certainly gets quite a bit of attention from his sister). I must say that while I'm excited to see Kira tomorrow, I have thoroughly enjoyed our vacation away from Atlanta and toddlerhood (read: yard work and potty training).

Potty Training

A week ago we started some intensive potty training with Kira - as in, take away the diapers and don't look back. We figured with Jay home for the summer, this was our best shot. Kira is doing well with it though accidents are not uncommon. There is a lot more bathroom talk around here, but there is also a cute little toddler who is so proud of her "big kid underpants."

Two-Months-Old

John is 2-months-old today. To celebrate, he went to the doctor yesterday and got some shots. Poor John. He weighed in at 11 lbs. 13.6 oz., and he is 24 inches long. That is the 50th percentile for weight and the 90th for height in case you're wondering. Apparently, he's still long and skinny!

Highlands

We just returned from a wonderful week in Highlands, NC with Gramma and Papa Al (Margaret and Albert). The weather was cool (notice the long sleeves), the company was hoppin' (notice Kira's foot-stomp), and the children were entertained (waterfalls, harmonicas, etc.).John did, in fact, sleep through many of our adventures (the car seat and the Baby Bjorn have that effect on him), but he sure had a lot of fun when he was awake. He's smiling a lot and seems to have found both his voice and his tongue. If Kira were writing this, she would point out the boo-boo on his face in the picture below.
