John's First Haircut

I know what you're thinking. What 5-month-old needs a haircut? Um, this one.I figured that all the sparkly clips I used in his sister's hair weren't an option. So I took a few snips here and there while John wiggled on a blanket. And, voila!
Now if only I could get the hair on top to lay down!

Millie's Foot

So, Millie had a bit of a problem with her foot last week, and ended up having to get to the doctor Tuesday morning for a quick check-up. I (Jay, obviously) stayed home from school for a few hours, got the kids up and running, got Kira to Parent's Morning Out, et cetera. Later on that day, I also did my my best to keep Millie off her feet once I got home from work. This involved giving John his first bath in over a week, among other things.

All that to say: when Daddy is in charge, and Mommy can't get off the couch too easily, wild things happen with our kids' hair.

Note: Kira asked for the bandana. Or, at least, she was interested in my bandana, enough for me to inquire about her wearing one herself. A kind of "special hat" we called it.

Somersaults

I was hoping to show you my husband, father, sister, and brother-in-law all doing acrobatics with Kira, but I'll have to let this one picture of Jeremy represent the hilarity of watching adults do tricks.
Also, here is Kira (who still flops sideways 75% of the time) doing a real somersault. Kind of.

Sunday Evening

We got together for a laid-back meal with my parents, Annie, Jeremy, and cousin Walker. We ended up outside at the end of the evening. Here is me with the kids on the porch. Just wait for the pictures from the porch of the somersaulters in the grass. (Notice how psyched Kira is.)

Rainy Day

The temperatures are dropping and our rain barrels are filling back up. We are very grateful to be enjoying a rainy Labor Day together at the homestead.Kira is especially grateful for the puddles!

Homemade Playdough

It's just flour, oil, salt, and water, but it sure entertained this little girl! Food coloring is now on my shopping list so we can make a few different colors.
