Baby Andrew

On Saturday, we went to Montgomery to meet our newest family member - Andrew Paul Wamsted.  He is totally adorable, and I couldn't believe how much this little one could sleep through!  We loved seeing him (plus his big sisters and parents).  Unfortunately, we left our camera behind so Anna's iPhone photos will have to suffice to record this meeting.  The top one is of all 7 cousins (with Andrew in the window in the bouncy seat), and the bottom one is of Jay with his newest nephew (in an outfit that our boys wore).

Tooth #2

Remember 6 weeks ago when I thought Simon's second tooth would quickly follow his first?  (John got his first two teeth on the same day!)  Well, I was wrong.  After much teething-related drama, Simon's second tooth finally came in on Wednesday.  He has also figured out how to get down our 2 steps (earlier than our other 2 even crawled).  Also, he's pretty darn cute.

Last Saturday

Last Saturday was busier than usual for the Wamsteds!  We began the day with Kira's first ever soccer game.  It didn't go so well.  It was really, really hot, and there were some pretty awesome players competing against our little first timer.  She did great though, and I was proud of her.  That's her in the middle of the picture below - with the pink shoes and a ponytail.  (The good news is that she just had her second game, which went much better!)
After her game, Kira went to a birthday party and skipped nap time/quiet time (maybe for the first time ever in her life).  She came home full of sugar and with a painted face.  The mother of the birthday girl told me later that Kira's face was the best by far.  The picture below doesn't even do it justice.
And we ended the evening with a wonderful dinner at my grandparents' condo in Alpharetta.  The kids really enjoyed spending time with them (as did Jay and I, of course).  Kira was pretty tired by the end of the night, which you can tell in the picture below.  Don't let her face fool you, though.  She was still in good spirits - just unwilling to smile for a picture.

My Buddy

Three days a week, I take Kira to preschool, put Simon down for his morning nap, and spend some one-on-one time with John.
I love this time with John.  Often he'll play alone while I read a book.  We'll stop and do a puzzle together and then go back to our separate tasks.  We usually check on the chickens and get a little housework done.
We don't do anything special.  But that, in and of itself, is kinda special.

Labor Day Weekend

Last Friday night, we packed up the car and headed up to my parents' lake house for the long weekend.  It was just wonderful!  The weather was perfect - not scorching but hot enough to be in the water.  We got to go out on the boat a couple of times.  And there was a freezer full of fudgesicles (or "smudgesicles" as Kira and John now call them).  Not to mention the fact that there were two extra adults to read, color, cook, etc.  Thanks for having us, Yaya and PopPop!!
I could fill a book with adorable pictures of John covered in chocolate!
Look how happy Kira is here.  She loved being in the lake!

9 Months and Happy

Simon went in for his 9 month check-up on Friday.  He weighs in at 20 lbs, 3 oz (between the 50th and 75th percentile) and is 30 inches long (90th percentile).  He's healthy and happy.  In fact, he's become a much, much happier baby now that he's moving so well!  His impish grin makes it worth it to chase him around constantly pulling stuff out of his mouth (even when I pick everything up, he finds dog hair to stuff in his mouth -- cleaning our floors has become my primary job as a mother).
Happy 3/4 birthday, Simon!
