Snow Days 2015

So the recent snowstorm that swept across the South missed us by just a few miles. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning on Tuesday afternoon and, remembering last year, the city shut down. We all missed two days of school, and Jay spent most of the first on the radar watching the snow and ice drift just a touch to the north. They still cancelled school the second day on account of a persistent rain that could, at any moment, have shifted into ice or snow. This morning, however? Well, just see for yourself:
Watching out the window during lunch, Kira suddenly shouted out: "Daddy! Look! There's snow up in that tree!" We all looked at it kind of wistfully. I had wanted to get a picture of my three kids playing in the snow yesterday, and this is the best I'm going to get this year, I think.
Kira has actually missed three days this week, as our county got a wayward bit of ice on Tuesday morning that completely missed the city; Jay went to work and she stayed home. TV Thursday rolled around here on Day Three just in time today to keep us sane. Simon's stance there reminds me of John at that age: while Kira would sit on the couch he would stand in the door to watch the TV, ready for a hasty exit. It's pretty cute.

What Happens When Jay Dresses The Boys For Church

Now that I (Millie) get to church before my family on Sundays, it's always interesting to see how the children will be dressed.  This week the boys were both dressed like Jay circa 1993-2013... lots of plaid, nothing fits quite right, still super handsome.

John & Simon at YaYa & PopPop's

We've been a little busy lately, and consequently falling down on our picture posting. Part of what has kept us busy is Millie's new job (twenty hours a week; K-3 children's pastor at our church), which is super exciting. This week, she got to go out of town with the entire staff for a couple of days, leaving Kira and me at home to go to school and work, and sending the boys to spend the night at YaYa & PopPop's for two nights. Uncharted waters for all of us, and YaYa was gracious enough to provide pictures.

I'll spare you the picture-by-picture commentary, and just say that when the boys are playing well together, they are so cute. And, notice: still Batmen. Apparently YaYa had to peel the suit off John at the end of the first day and promise to wash it immediately. Thanks so much, YaYa and PopPop!
